1. Overview & Key Capabilities
Holon Copy copies content from one Canvas course into one or more destination courses — everything at once, or just the pieces you choose.
Copy to multiple courses at once
Select several destination courses and Holon Copy runs a separate import into each.
Full or selective
Copy the entire course, or hand-pick specific modules, assignments, quizzes, pages, files, or the syllabus.
Automatic date shifting
Enter the first day of the new term and Holon Copy shifts every due date to match, keeping the original weekly spacing.
Job Log with full detail
Every copy is tracked with status and an expandable record of exactly what was copied where.
2. Getting Started
Holon Copy launches from your Canvas course through the Holon Hub. No separate login required.
The first time you open it, it connects to Canvas automatically using your launch credentials. You need instructor access in both source and destination courses.
Tip: Use the term filter dropdown at the top of the course list to quickly narrow to current or future terms only.
3. Copying a Course (Step by Step)
- Select Source Course — filter by term, search, and click to select.
- Select Destination Course(s) — check as many as you need.
- What to Copy — Copy Everything or Select Items.
- Date Shifting (optional) — toggle on, enter the new term's first day.
- Review & Copy — confirm the summary, then click Start Copy.
Copies run in the background. Check the Job Log and hit Refresh Status to see when each finishes.
4. Full vs. Selective Copy
📦 Copy Everything
All modules, assignments, quizzes, pages, files, and the syllabus. Best for standing up a fresh section from a master course.
🎯 Select Items
Pick exactly which items to bring over. Best for pulling a few specific pieces into an existing course.
Note: Selective copy takes slightly longer than full copy.
5. Date Shifting
Move a course's due dates to a new term by entering just one date.
Toggle Shift due dates to new term and enter the First Day of Class for the new term. Holon Copy auto-detects the source course's original schedule and shifts every assignment due date proportionally.
If the source course has no detectable schedule, date shifting is skipped and dates copy as-is.
6. Job Log & Tracking
Each job shows source → destination, status, and a summary of what was copied. Click any job to expand full details including the Canvas migration number.
Hit Refresh Status to update in-progress jobs.
7. FAQ & Tips
Will copying overwrite the destination?
No. Content is added; existing content is not deleted.
Why is my job still "Running"?
Canvas processes migrations in the background. Hit Refresh Status.
Can I copy just one module?
Yes — choose Select Items and check only that module.
